Pat Reif Memorial Lecture Series

Pat Reif, as chair of the Religious Studies department at Immaculate Heart College Center, founded the nation's first graduate program in Feminist Spirituality in 1984. Believing in the necessity of combining academic study with social engagement, Pat Reif worked with Cesar Chavez, co-founded the Interfaith Hunger Coalition, was active in anti-nuclear organizations, and was a leader in the Women's Ordination Conference, working for the ordination of women in the Catholic Church. In 2002, the Pat Reif Memorial Lecture was established to honor her as a feminist scholar and activist. Every year since, a feminist scholar has been sponsored to speak, creating a line of advancement of the ideals Pat Reif represented.
